Nous Research Launches NousCoder-14B Open-Source AI Coding Model

Nous Research, the open-source artificial intelligence startup backed by crypto venture firm Paradigm, has officially released NousCoder-14B, a new competitive programming model. Developed in just four days using 48 of Nvidia’s latest B200 graphics processors, the model matches or exceeds several larger proprietary systems, marking a significant milestone in AI-assisted software development. The launch arrives at a highly competitive moment, closely following the viral success of Anthropic's agentic programming tool, Claude Code. NousCoder-14B achieved a 67.87% accuracy rate on LiveCodeBench v6, representing a 7.08 percentage point improvement over its base model, Alibaba's Qwen3-14B, proving that open-source alternatives can rapidly close the performance gap.
